How do I correct both dollar amounts and recipient information on a 1099?

Views: 6429 Created: 2014-07-10 15:32 Last Updated: 2018-09-17 11:13

SYMPTOM

When submitting a 1099 or 1098, I made an error recording the amounts as well as an error on the recipient information (name, address, SSN/EIN).  Yearli is not allowing me to make both corrections at the same time; one field is greyed out and will not let me enter new information.

CAUSE

On Yearli only one incorrect entity can be corrected at a time.  Two separate corrected 1099 forms will need to be filed.

SOLUTION

  1. From Your Filing Home, click on the Form Filing History button.
  2. Click on the Make Corrections paper and pencil icon next to the batch containing the form to be corrected.
  3. Locate the form that needs to be corrected and select the Make Corrections button.
  4. Choose one option that has been previously recorded incorrectly.  (Either wrong recipient TIN, name, and/or address or wrong amount or filing.)
  5. Make the necessary corrections and click Save and then Next.
  6. Proceed through the checkout process to completely file the corrected 1099 form.
  7. Return to Your Filing Home and click on the Form Filing History button again.
  8. Select the Make Corrections paper and pencil icon next to the new batch just submitted that contained the first corrected form.
  9. Locate the newly filed corrected 1099 form and click the Make Corrections button.
  10. Choose the correction type button.  (Either wrong recipient TIN, name, and/or address or wrong amount or filing.)
  11. Make the second correction as needed and click Save and then Next.
  12. Proceed through the checkout process and file the second corrected 1099 form.
