Nothing happens when my recipient clicks on the link to retrieve their 1099, 1095, or W-2 form in Safari.

SYMPTOM

The recipient received the email to retrieve their W-2, 1099, or 1095 form.  After selecting the link in the email and entering the last four digits of their SSN or EIN, the page displayed showing the link to download the W-2, 1099, or 1095 form.  The recipient selected the link for the form but nothing happened and the form did not download.

CAUSE

This is most often the case when using the Safari browser on a Mac and Adobe Acrobat Reader is not installed on the computer.

SOLUTION

Procedure 1: Install Adobe Acrobat Reader

  1. Download and install Adobe Acrobat Reader from the Adobe website.

Procedure 2: Right click the link

  1. Right click on the W-2, 1099, or 1095 link.
  2. Select to Open in a new tab.

Procedure 3: Try an alternate browser

  1. Download and install Chrome or Firefox for Mac.
  2. Attempt to retrieve the W-2, 1099, or 1095 again.
